While wandering about
Oh, for many years now
Often lonely and in the dark
I sometimes think of you

Of your immortal poetry
And that mysterious novel,
A devilish wonderful mixture
Of demonic feelings in man.
A life spent all in shadow
Looking after your family's welfare
Unrelenting strength and firmness
A character all of your own.

Where are you now I ask
And wonder if you still can hear
Who after so many years
Pays you today such an immense tribute

Too far from earth can't be your soul
If peace is finally at its goal.
